The fisheries sector provides enormous employment and self-employment opportunities in terms of biodiversity. This region plays a crucial role in strengthening the economy of the people. The successful implementation of the ambitious Indo-Norwegian Trout Farming Project in the state has generated interest among the people of Himachal Pradesh in utilizing their water resources using advanced techniques. The rearing and production of important fish species in Govind Sagar and Pong Dam, Chamera, and Ranjit Sagar reservoirs provide an opportunity for local communities to strengthen their economy.
